Earlier this month I went with two of my friends to Broadway for the first time. We saw seven shows when we were there, and my first Broadway show ever was Young Frankenstein. We had seats in row A, and I'll save you the recap, but it was nothing short of amazing, and Roger was fantastic.

I was also lucky enough to meet Roger, after trying to meet him in vain for three nights.

Roger was the sweetest man in the world and all you could hope for in a celebrity and more. He even gave me a hug!!!

I'll post what I put in my LJ about it, it's kinda long, so it's under the cut.

The previous two nights my friends and I waited at the Young Frankenstein stage door to try and meet Roger, who didn't come out either time.

A security guard came out and I asked him if Roger was coming out, and said that this was the third night we had come back to try and meet him, and he said he would be out shortly. This was great news to me, because I was beginning to give up hope that I would get a chance to meet him this trip. Five or ten minutes later, the security guard came out again and told us that Roger had gone to the other door, but let us in through the theatre to go out the stage door so we could catch him.

We went to the back of the line, and waited for Roger to make his way to us. He seemed to be really nice and was taking pictures with everyone, and when he got to the end of the line and posed for a picture with someone, he LOOKED RIGHT AT ME. TWICE. I melted right then and there. Then he came over to us. We told him this was our third night trying to meet him, and the story about how the security guard had let us through the theatre when we learned that he had gone through the stage door so we could meet him.

And he was touched, just absolutely flattered that we cared that much about him.

Most celebrities I've met (and at last count I'm at least at 20 now), usually when you tell them you loved them in something, they say a quick thanks and sign an autograph and take a picture and that's that. Not with Roger. He gladly signed everything for us, and I told him that I was ecstatic when I found out he'd be in Young Frankenstein and how glad I was I got to see him in it, and how I love him in everything and how I follow everything he does. Since I've met so many celebrities, I was able to somehow say all of this without coming off as overly-excited and desperate, but made sure it came from the heart.

And his response came from the heart, too. His tone was one of the most sincere I have ever heard in my life, he kept saying things like "Oh God, thank you. That means so much to me," and "I'm so glad you guys got to see the show and enjoyed it."

He took a picture with me, and at first my friend who was taking it didn't think it took, so he posed right away for another one, until she realized that my camera actually did take the first one. And he told me "That was my sexiest picture tonight. I saved it just for you." Let me tell you, there's nothing like having your top celebrity crush telling you he saved his sexiest picture just for you, it's quite an amazing feeling.

My friend took a picture with him, and then he asked my other friend if she wanted a picture. My one friend HATES taking pictures, and so she politely said "Oh, I don't have my camera with me, sorry!" So Roger said, "But they have cameras! They can take one!" She said "Oh, no, that's okay," and Roger said "Oh come on, they can send it to you!" Roger WOULD NOT let her get away without taking a picture, so she did.

And then it happened. Roger just kept going on after that saying so many sweet things that without even thinking, the words just came out of my mouth, I said "Oh my God. Can I have a hug?" And he said "Of course!!!" And then he wrapped his arms around me, and said "I give great hugs." He wasn't lying. I had the warmest, fuzziest feeling I've ever had in my life, I'm surprised I didn't faint. Let me tell you, that was the best hug I've ever gotten in my life. And at some point he had his hand on the small of my back. Guh.

We talked for a little while longer and when it was time for him to go he said "Well guys, it was so great meeting you. Thank you guys so much for coming out again." And I said, "No, thank you. Like I said, I follow everything you do, just keep on doing what you're doing, you're doing an amazing job, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future. Thank you SO much."

He said thanks once again, told us he'd see us, said bye and waved as he walked away. That was the kicker. He just walked away down the street, whereas every other star I'd met had an assistant or security guard usher them into a car after they were done signing autographs. Not Roger, he just put his hands in his pockets and walked away. It only made me love him more.

In short though, Roger was by far the nicest celebrity I've ever met, and definitely worth waiting outside for three nights in the cold for.
